The beautiful conservation village of Exton is composed of pretty stone cottages, many thatched, the others with Collyweston slate roofs, surrounding a traditional picture book village green with a very attractive 18th century pub, which serves excellent English and Italian food. There is also a village hall in Exton as well as the multi award winning Hambleton Bakery.
The village of Cottesmore also has stone and thatched cottages, but is larger and has an excellent village store and a couple of other shops, besides a football club and village hall.
Exton and Cottesmore are blessed with excellent primary schools, and both villages are near very good state and private schools.
The Estate is a haven for walkers with a myriad of footpaths and bridleways enabling people to walk from Exton to Greetham and Empingham using the Viking Way & other paths some of which are private tarmaced roads.
